Web Hosting?

Is hosting your own website on your own server better than having it hosted on someone else%26#039;s server?

Web Hosting?

That depends on what exactly you mean.

If you mean your own server as in you have two computers at your home, and you want to use one of them to host a website (or two) from that location, then that is possible. As far as recommended, well, it depends on your expertise and level of knowledge, ability, etc. If you go this route, I highly recommend DSL or cable ISP (broadband, do not try it on dialup).

If you mean going with a commonly known company (otherwise known as a server farm) and paying a setup fee, then having to configure the machine, keep it updated, etc. - This is almost as difficult as the first option (running it out of your home or business - assuming a small business) however there are some things to consider. It is not physically at your location. You do not have to pay the electric bill for the server running all the time and you do not need to worry about managing your bandwidth, but what happens if there is a hardware failure? Does the server farm buy the parts, or do you?

A shared server can be a good option due to low cost, someone else is doing the maintenance, paying for the electric and bandwidth, but again, you are at their mercy - even more so.

It depends on how much control you need, how much you can trust a company you would choose, and how much you have to invest. Also note that you can (literally anyone can) get a minimal install of gentoo linux (53 MB) install it in virtually any computer, and use it as an http server.

It seems you have done some homework, but I think you would really do better for now to research a little more and make up your own mind. It even pays to find someone who has had many different hosting experiences and ask them to honestly give you a referral to a reliable web host. I will not name any here, but you can seearch %26quot;dedicated server%26quot; %26quot;shared server%26quot; %26quot;linux hosting%26quot; %26quot;bsd hosting%26quot; etc.

Web Hosting?

no i not i don%26#039;t no how

Other Replys:It is better because you don楹搕 pay for it. But can you garantee it will be online 100% of the time? How much energy are you goning to spent to put this server on and how p]much eletricity are you goingo to pay? Web Hosting is something that is really cheap nowadays

Other Replys:Hi

Yes hosting your website on some service provider is much better than hosting on our own.

1. Cost effective and reliable. They will have premium bandwidth to host the site. Its not a DSL/Cable/Leased Circuit Bandwidth

2. You get better and easy management tools like control panel. So you do need to spend time in maintaining the server

3. They take care of the uptime

4. They take care of the power supply etc

5. Redundancy is built in the network

6. You get access to different kinds of software

7. Round the clock support

8. No misc expenditure

So the better option would the following

1. If you think you require very less space and bandwidth then you can go for shared hosting which works out cheaper

2. If you want to resell or start you own hosting company, then you should look at Private Label or brandable hosting program.

3. You could always go in for dedicated server with some good management tools. So this makes your work simple

If you are new to hosting, then you can start with shared hosting or private label program as this might help you to learn at beginning

Other Replys:No it isn%26#039;t. Go with www.frevety.net. They have an amazing deal. Get 600gb monthly bandwidth, 75000mb of storage, and host up to 25 different web sites for just $90 every 14 months (that%26#039;s $6.43 per month). They list it as $7.50 per month, but then they later throw in another 2 months. Best deal anywhere hands down. Their customer support replies within 30 minutes every time as well!
