I have web-hosting at Startlogic.com. I download the wordpress zip and extracted the contents. then i created a mysql database in the startlogic %26quot;vdeck%26quot; i called it wordpress321 and i made a username and password. then i change wp-config-sample to wpconfig and filled in the changes. then i uploaded all the files (2.9 mb) to public_html on my web-server.

And i get an error message saying something about how the script could not fulfill its request. ive tried this sooooo many times, please help!!!!!

check if your sql version is compatible and php. Check what king of hostname do you use. Check this wp-config if its working for you...

I%26#039;m working off of nothing here as I have never installed Wordpress, but on I%26#039;ve two possible suggestions:

(1) Once you upload it, you still have to sort of %26quot;install it%26quot; on the server. To do this you go to like:

(2) MyBB you have to %26quot;chmod%26quot; files in order for the program to work correctly on your server. Make sure read/write/execute access is avalible to all required files

Which service is it? When I get to name cheap I get confused. All I need is something that when I type blabla.org it will go to my ip address, I can go through other web sites as well. very simple.

You need DDNS.

you can get an account from zoneedit.com. it is free.

sign up for an account, add your domain then back to your domain provider (where you signed for your domain), update the DNS servers and then download the client to your computer. there are few instuctions on how to make the client run as a service on your computer. running as a service means that the client will start when the computer starts even if you did not login.

The client monitors your IP and reports it to zoneedit.com when it changes.

i have been using it for a while and had no issues. the client takes about 5 minutes to update the ip address once a change is reported.

i have been using this fr a while and very happy with it.

Note: once you sign up for a domain name it wil take 72 hours to get it working.

well first off... if your website has nothing to do with the link you are posting, then you will not be bumbing there rank on search engines.

secoundly search engines do not hold in high reguard free website with links, and they have little to no impact on ranking.

A great hosting service, is Yahoo!s Bussiness Service, that is a great price and has a great many features for biggining web programers.

the best way I have found is to link your site with other sites that are in the same business. Google then ranks your website with a higher rating it shows you have good standings with other companies. You don%26#039;t need a Windows server. UNIX is fine.

You might need a host that supports Frontpage Extensions if you plan to use some features of Frontpage, but most people can get by without those features, and last time I checked they were available for UNIX and Windows systems.

Personally I would avoid Frontpage though. The quality of its output is generally rather low. Dreamweaver is better, but nothing is a good substitute for learning HTML and CSS.
